Another request for release Fred R.
Fred R., one of the suspects in the Passage liquidation trial, tried again Friday to get an end to his pre-trial detention. Through a summary proceeding before the court, his lawyer Peter Plasman pleaded for the release of Fred R., who has now been in pretrial detention for more than six years.
In May of this year, Fred R. also tried to be released via summary proceedings in court. That request was then rejected by the court rejected. The summary judgment judge, while finding the remand exceptionally long, did not consider it unlawful.
According to his lawyer Peter Plasman, at nearly 6.5 years, that remand is unfeasibly long. 'There is no end to it. That is not possible in a constitutional state,' the counsel told AT5.
Justice suspects Fred R. of involvement in the murder of café owner Thomas van der Bijl and claimed for that in the liquidation trial "Passage" a life sentence.
It was announced Thursday that the court hearing the Passage criminal case will rule on Jan. 29.
