Sywert van Lienden and his business partners may be prosecuted for swindling the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS). The two men were previously sentenced to six years in prison and suspended in prison for committing fornication and recruiting vulnerable, sometimes underage boys to prostitution. They did this from their home in the Overvecht district of Utrecht.

Maarten Pijnenburg was part of the MH17 Legal Assistance Team, which assisted the bereaved families of the MH-17 air disaster. The District Court of The Hague sentenced three of the four suspects in the MH17 criminal case to life in prison for their role in the shooting down of the Malaysia Airlines plane over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. The fourth suspect was acquitted by the court. Russians Igor Girkin and Sergei Dubinsky and Ukrainian Leonid Khartchenko received life sentences. The charges against the Russian Oleg Pulatov are not considered legally and convincingly proven by the court and he therefore goes free. The prosecution had demanded life in prison against all four defendants.

The suspect's lawyer, Peter Plasman, says so following reports in De Telegraaf. The agents posed as serious criminals and wanted to find out who the suspect was working for. He was picked off the street and put in a van, suggesting a kidnapping. According to Plasman, he was heavily threatened and had to tell who was behind the threats and attacks against the staff of De Groot Fresh Food Group. "If he did not do that then something would be done to him or the family," Plasman said.

Murat K. has been acquitted by the court for the murder of 48-year-old Hakki Yesilkagit. The Tilburger was shot dead in Tilburg's Mahlerstraat on June 23, 2006. He was sitting in his car at the time, near his home, and was hit by six bullets at close range. There is no evidence that K. was in the Mahlerstraat at the time of the liquidation, the judge stated. While there are incriminating statements against K., the court cannot determine their reliability.
