Saturday, May 13, 2000, is a beautiful, summer day in Enschede. Many people are outside enjoying the weather. But at about three o'clock the fire department receives a report of a fire. At 3:30 a.m. on the grounds of fireworks company S.E. Fireworks, a huge explosion sounds, followed by a heavy, all-destroying blast. The entire Roombeek neighborhood is razed to the ground. 947 people are injured and four firefighters and nineteen residents are killed.
Lawyer Peter Plasman assisted director of S.E. Fireworks Rudi Bakker and talks about the case where the truth is still not out.
