Justice demands 9 years in prison against 'Bokito' for detonating grenade in Enschede home

'KABOEM! Go to Stroinkslanden, you'll see!", according to the justice department, 'Godfather' Simo D. wrote via crypto phone to his supposed right-hand man in December 2016. In that neighborhood, on the Auskamplanden, a grenade exploded shortly before. At that time, the house was owned by a founder of motorcycle club Satudarah, Simo D's dyed-in-the-wool opponent. Nine years in prison were demanded today against the alleged thrower of the grenade.

"There could have been deaths," the prosecution states about detonating that hand grenade. The blast hurls 2,500 small metal balls around. Doors, ceiling, radiators and floor are perforated. "The house is in the middle of a densely populated neighborhood where many children live. Passersby could have been hit." Three people were present in the house during the blast. The founder of Satudarah is outside the house. No one reports the attack.

The attack leads a year in full force in Twente. The person who, according to the prosecution, threw the grenade into the house was only one year ago apprehended: the Almelo-based Anouar B. M. The prosecutor said, "Since the mid-2020s we had been looking for the suspect, he was internationally flagged, but could not be traced."

Bokito

Justice says it is certain that Almelo Anouar, nicknamed Bokito, is involved in the grenade attack. In mid-2020, there appeared to be a dna match. The brace of the exploded grenade turned out to contain dna from Bokito.

That combined with statements from several witnesses, that Bokito was the one who threw the grenade and photos of chats about the attack, make the prosecution argue that the case "stands like a house." Messages on a crypto phone showed that an "apple torrie" had been thrown by Bokito. 'Apple' in this case stands for grenade, according to the prosecutor.

Criminal accounting

Bokito and possible co-accused 'Lange' are also written about in a kind of criminal accounting, which was kept in an Excel sheet on a usb stick. It reads: 'Throwing apple 4500, Lange 2250 and Bokito 2250'. Lange is said to be a red-headed man from Almelo, against whom, according to the Justice Department, there is as yet too little evidence to prosecute him.

The usb accounts are attributed to the criminal group surrounding Simo D., who calls himself the Godfather of Twente. Simo reportedly had a beef with Satudarah members, which led to numerous attacks. Simo was arrested early last year sentenced to nearly 27 years in prison.

Bokito himself claims to have seen a bomb, gun and grenade at "a friend's house" once. "I held those then in a crazy Mexican vibe." With which friend that was, he would not say. The prosecutor commented, "Therefore, his story is unverifiable and therefore unreliable."

Wolf

Bokito stayed out of police hands for a long time, more than six years. Early last year he was arrested in Belgium. As the co-driver of a car, in which twenty grams of hard drugs were found. He was detained by his southern neighbors and thus came back in sight of the Dutch investigative authorities.

Suspect Bokito

His lawyer points to a possible other perpetrator of the grenade attack. He argues that a man nicknamed "Wolf" may have thrown the grenade. "A witness states that the same car was used as a month later, when a hairdresser in Enschede was set on fire. Wolf was convicted for that deliberate attack. In addition, the criminal accounts also include an item '2400 grenade Wolf'. That could very well point to the grenade attack on the Auskamplanden."

Almeloan Bokito is not only suspected of throwing the grenade. He is also alleged to have robbed two employers in Limburg. For example, he allegedly stole cigarettes worth over 14,000 euros from a gas station. At a sunglasses store, he allegedly stole 28,000 euros from the cash register. He confessed to these thefts.

AK47

He is also charged with possessing an AK47 machine gun. His dna was found on the backpack that contained that weapon. The assault weapon was seized during a border check. The aforementioned Wolf had picked up the weapon in Emmen and had driven back to Twente via Germany. According to the prosecution, the AK had been picked up to start shooting at a café in Enschede where Satudarah members regularly met.

Bokito's lawyer argues that the dna on the backpack says nothing. "Possibly the dna got on it while the weapon was not yet in it," he said.

Bokito has also been charged with possession of a pistol and an automatic weapon. Those were found in a white Volkswagen Scirocco, linked to Bokito by four different witnesses. At least one of those weapons appeared to have been used in a murder attempt in 2017. According to himself, several people were driving that car, and the weapons cannot be linked to him. There are no traces of him on it.

Bokito was sentenced to 9 years in prison today. The court will rule at the end of next month.

The arrest of Vito Shukrula, lawyer for Ridouan Taghi, has hit like a bomb with fellow criminal lawyers. Well-known criminal lawyer Peter Plasman has been equally "shocked and bewildered" by the news. ,,It is of course only a suspicion, but after all the commotion you may assume that the Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) will not act overnight. The OM will think they have a strong case. For now, I assume the prosecution has thought carefully about this arrest. Arresting a lawyer is a very heavy step.'' Plasman also cannot get over the fact that a lawyer seems to have once again functioned as an errand boy.

Will a pedometer provide a definitive answer to the death of 30-year-old Laura from Leiden? The Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) thinks so, but the lawyer of the victim's ex, Jordi L'Homme, expects nothing from it, it appeared Monday morning during the fifth preliminary hearing against suspect Paul V.

Let the Public Prosecutor's Office handle the lighter cases itself. Then judges can focus on the heavier cases so that there are enough cells for the convicts who really belong there, argues attorney Peter Plasman.
