Attorney Plasman wants ex-neurologist Jansen Steur to undergo psychiatric examination again
ARNHEM/ENSCHEDE - Ex-neurologist Ernst Jansen Steur must be psychologically examined again. That is what his lawyer Peter Plasman said Thursday during the pre-trial hearing in the appeal against the former doctor sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Diagnosis
The case will be heard substantively in mid-May next year. Jansen was convicted of, among other things, intentionally misdiagnosing several patients. Jansen was addicted to medication at the time.
Psychological Research
During an earlier psychological examination, it was determined that he was impaired, but according to Jansen's lawyer Peter Plasman, this was not taken into account in determining the sentencing. Jansen also allegedly suffered brain damage in a car accident. That, too, was not examined well enough during the trial, according to his lawyer. The court will decide Jan. 12 whether Jansen Steur will be examined for brain damage.
